Account Deletion

We're sorry to see you go! This page explains how to permanently delete your NoteNest account and what happens to your data when you do. We respect your right to control your personal information and make the deletion process straightforward and transparent.

Important: Account Deletion is Permanent

Once your account is deleted, this action cannot be undone or reversed. All your data will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. Please read this page carefully before proceeding.

Before You Delete Your Account

Before permanently deleting your NoteNest account, please consider the following:

Pre-Deletion Checklist

  • Backup Your Data: Create a local or cloud backup of all your notes, reminders, and tasks
  • Export Important Notes: Export any critical notes as PDF, text, or image files
  • Save Cloud Backups: If using Google Drive backup, ensure you have a recent backup saved
  • Cancel Subscriptions: If you have premium features (future), cancel any active subscriptions
  • Remove Widgets: Delete NoteNest widgets from your home screen
  • Consider Alternatives: Explore if there's a way to resolve your concerns without deletion

What Will Be Deleted

When you delete your NoteNest account, the following data will be permanently removed:

  • Account Information: Email address, username, password, and profile details
  • All Notes: Every note you've created, including titles, content, and timestamps
  • Reminders: All scheduled and past reminders
  • To-Do Lists: All tasks and their completion status
  • Wish Lists: All wish items you've saved
  • Categories & Tags: All organizational structures you've created
  • Important Notes: Notes marked as important
  • Settings & Preferences: Theme choices, notification settings, and customizations
  • Authentication Tokens: All session data and login credentials

What Happens to Your Data

Local Device Data

All data stored locally on your Android device (Room Database, encrypted preferences) will be immediately deleted when you confirm account deletion.

Server Data

Your account information stored on Firebase Authentication servers will be permanently deleted within 30 days of your deletion request.

Cloud Backups

Backups stored in your personal Google Drive remain under your control. You must manually delete them from your Google Drive if desired.

Analytics Data

Anonymized usage data (Firebase Analytics) may be retained for up to 90 days for statistical purposes but will no longer be linked to your identity.

How to Delete Your Account

You have three methods to permanently delete your NoteNest account:

Method 1: Delete Through the App (Recommended)

  1. Open NoteNest on your Android device
  2. Tap the menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner
  3. Select Settings
  4. Scroll down to the Account section
  5. Tap "Delete Account"
  6. Read the warning message carefully
  7. Enter your password to confirm your identity
  8. Tap "Permanently Delete Account"
  9. Confirm one final time by tapping "Yes, Delete My Account"

Note: You will be immediately logged out, and the app will clear all local data. This action takes effect immediately.

Method 2: Request Deletion via Email

If you cannot access the app, you can request account deletion by email:

  1. Send an email to saihemanth225@gmail.com
  2. Use the email address associated with your NoteNest account
  3. Subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
  4. In the email body, include:
    • Your NoteNest account email
    • Your username (if you remember it)
    • Reason for deletion (optional but helpful)
    • Confirmation statement: "I request permanent deletion of my NoteNest account"
  5. We will process your request within 48 hours and send confirmation

Data Retention Policy

After you delete your account, NoteNest follows these data retention practices:

Retention Timeline

  • Immediate (0 days): Local device data deleted, access to account terminated
  • Within 7 days: Active sessions invalidated, authentication tokens revoked
  • Within 30 days: All personal data permanently deleted from our systems
  • Up to 90 days: Anonymized analytics data may be retained (crash reports, usage statistics) without any personal identifiers
  • Legal Retention: In rare cases, we may retain certain information if required by law, court order, or for legitimate legal purposes, but this data will be anonymized when possible

What We Do NOT Delete

The following items are not controlled by NoteNest and will not be automatically deleted:

  • Google Drive Backups: Backups stored in your personal Google Drive remain there. You must delete them manually if desired
  • Exported Files: Any notes you've exported as PDF, text, or images remain on your device or wherever you saved them
  • Shared Content: Notes you've shared with others via email, WhatsApp, etc., remain with the recipients
  • App Store Reviews: Reviews you've left on Google Play Store (you must delete these separately through Google Play)

Alternative to Account Deletion

If you're considering account deletion due to a specific issue, we may be able to help:

Take a Break

Simply uninstall the app without deleting your account. Your data will remain safe, and you can reinstall anytime.

Adjust Settings

Issues with notifications, theme, or features? Check Settings—you might find a solution without deletion.

Clear Data

Want a fresh start? Clear app data through Android Settings while keeping your account for future use.

Contact Support

Having issues? Contact us—we're happy to help resolve problems before you decide to leave.

Reactivation Policy

No Reactivation Available

Once your account is deleted, it cannot be recovered or reactivated. If you want to use NoteNest again after deletion, you will need to:

  • Create a new account with a new email address
  • Start fresh with no access to your previous data
  • Restore from backup if you saved one before deletion

Your Rights Under Privacy Laws

Account deletion is your right under various privacy regulations:

  • GDPR (EU): Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
  • CCPA (California): Right to deletion of personal information
  • Indian Data Protection: Right to data deletion and portability
